Our Journey
From a spare-room idea to 15+ cities
TAVISA was founded in 2023 by Rahul Suthan and Shalini Navandar — former finance professionals with a family legacy in the fabric industry. What began as a six-month trial run selling to family and friends is now a fashion brand with a flagship store in Domlur, Bengaluru, a growing exhibition circuit across India, and a rapidly expanding online audience.
Mar–Sep '23 — Trial to launch
Procured fabric and partnered with local tailors while still working full-time corporate jobs. The first retail outlet opened in Domlur, Bengaluru that September — six months from first trial to launch.
Nov '23–'24 — Website & the full-time leap
tavisafab.com went live in November 2023. Early traction gave both founders enough conviction to leave a combined 10+ years of corporate careers and go full-time on TAVISA in 2024.
FY24–25 — Exhibitions take off
Scaled our exhibition presence significantly after our first hire and an in-house designer coming on board — moving into premium exhibitions like HiLife and Panache across Bengaluru.
FY25–26 — Going national
Moved into a larger warehouse, revamped the Domlur store, and took the brand to Chennai, Hyderabad, Mysore, Mumbai, and a dozen more cities, plus two expansion phases into Colombo, Sri Lanka.
16 Aug '26 — Tavisa @ JBL opens
Opened our second Bengaluru store in Jeevan Bima Nagar, HAL 3rd Stage — doubling down on the city that started it all, open 10am–8pm daily just like Domlur.

Rahul Suthan — Founder
Shalini Navandar — Co-founder
Tavisa was born from a shared dream: two finance professionals who left over a decade of corporate careers to build something of their own. For founder Rahul Suthan and co-founder Shalini Navandar, starting a clothing line was a long-held ambition, one they carried through years of boardrooms and balance sheets before finally choosing to bet on themselves. That ambition was realized in 2023, and it was shaped from the outset by nearly three decades of family experience in the textile industry — a foundation neither of them had to build from scratch, but inherited, understood, and set out to honour.
That heritage shows in every piece. No shrinkage, no colour bleeding, no pilling — zero compromise on fabric quality. It's a standard that comes from knowing textiles intimately, from years of watching what separates a garment that lasts from one that doesn't. Comfort is never an afterthought to style; both are non-negotiable, and every fabric is chosen, tested, and finished with that dual promise in mind. The result is clothing that looks considered and feels effortless, the kind of quality that reveals itself the more you wear it.
Drawing its name from Sanskrit, Tavisa embodies a victorious essence, symbolizing the empowerment behind the founders' dream and the growing Tavisa family — a community that now includes everyone who wears the label, works alongside it, and believes in what it's building. Rooted in a passion for contemporary, chic fashion, the brand focuses on printed Indo-Western fusion garments designed for the discerning individual: pieces that move fluidly between tradition and modernity, made for people who don't want to choose between the two. Available online, in-store, and at exhibitions, Tavisa continues to grow the same way it started — with intention, craftsmanship, and a refusal to compromise on what quality actually means.
